The TWR-K60N512 is a development board for the Kinetis K10, K20 and K60 100MHz 32-bit ARM® Cortex™-M4 MCUs. It features the Kinetis MK60DN512VMD10 low-power microcontroller with USB 2.0 full-speed OTG controller and 10/100 Mbps Ethernet MAC.
The TWR-K60N512 operates as a standalone debug tool and can also be combined and used as part of the modular Tower System development platform.
The Kinetis portfolio of microcontrollers pairs the efficient ARM® Cortex-M4 core with cutting-edge, low-power design techniques. The result is the industry's lowest power Cortex-M4 based MCU solutions. A few examples are highlighted below:
The new Cortex-M4 core with single cycle DSP instructions paired with Freescale's efficient platform allows application tasks to be completed in fractions of the time it would take with other microcontrollers allowing average power consumption to be reduced.
90nm Thin Film Storage process technology allows dynamic power to be reduced to as low as 200uA/MHz. In addition special design techniques have been used to reduce leakage allowing lower power standby modes.
The Kinetis portfolio contains a flexible mode controller, allowing 10 different modes of operation which allows power reduction based on the application requirements. The Kinetis MCU can operate down to 1.71V with full analog and flash capabilities, in addition to many peripherals which are available such as a real time clock and Xtrinsic touch sense interface.
The architecture of the Kinetis device allows for adjustable clocking for peripherals and the core. This allows for quick changes to MCU clocks and different clock speeds for peripherals such as USB and Ethernet. A separate power supply for the real time clock allows low power time keeping with less than 1uA power consumption.
