This reference design exhibits the suitability and advantages of the 56F8300 family of Digital Signal Controllers for torque control applications (EPAS-like system) using a 3-phase PMSM motor with an encoder and resolver position sensors. The application utilizes a vector control approach of the 3-phase Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM) on the MC56F8346 controller board with resolver interface and 3-phase BLDC Low-Voltage power stage equipped with an APD SMARTMOSTM MC33395 driver. Control is performed by a miniature steering wheel accompanied by a differential torque sensor, which is interfaced with MC56F8346.
