Freescale Xtrinsic tilt-compensated e-compass and magnetic calibration software fuses data from accelerometer and magnetometer sensors to provide an accurate magnetic compass heading corrected for orientation and hard and soft iron magnetic interference. Target applications are smartphones, tablet PCs and portable navigation devices.
The software is provided free of charge for evaluation and commercial use to Freescale customers using an Xtrinsic MAG3110, FXOS8700CQ, or other Freescale magnetometer.
The seven-element model supports both hard and soft iron gain correction. This is recommended for customers with typical soft iron interference.
The four-element model is a hard iron only version of the calibration software that is provided in the software download for customers looking for the lowest possible power requirement.
