Freescale Romania is involved for 3 years in the CSR activities coordinated by United Way Romania. This foundation supports projects that are focused on improving the quality of life in our communities through individual giving, corporate giving and volunteerism.
As from the end of 2006, Freescale volunteers have been playing an important role in the selection and evaluation of applications submitted by Romanian charitable organizations to United Way. They have also been involved in monitoring the ongoing projects supported by this organization in Bucharest during the past three years.
Thanks to Freescale volunteers' contribution and dedication with time and individual money donations, alongside with volunteers from other companies, the quality, efficiency and effectiveness of the projects sponsored by United Way increased over time.
Day of Caring at SOS – Children Villages Romania
Family Counseling playground before the makeover by Freescale
In April 2009, Freescale Romania implemented a CSR project together with United Way Romania and SOS – Children Villages Romania. The 12-months project supports a “Family Counseling Centre”, located inside SOS – Children Villages, a community based program that strengthens 45 impoverished families (in these families are over 200 children aged 0-18 years old) and reduces the risk of child abandonment and school drop-out, while also strengthening family's social and professional integration.

Freescale donation has been allocated mainly for school supplies and meal tickets. The remaining funds were used to support a Day of Caring on 10 May, during which the volunteers team set up a nice playground and green space behind the Family Counseling Center, where children and families are now enjoying being together while coming to the centre for social services.
Children enjoying the results of our work
Armed with garden and painting tools, the Freescale Romania volunteer team regrouped on 14 June to give it another brush. After a couple of hours of hard work, the team rested and joined the counseling center leader to make plans for future projects like: improving the parents' knowledge, skills and abilities to raise their children and reintegrate them into the labor market and the community, providing to children who need extra help for doing homework or after school activities and artistic/computer activities etc.
