Welcome to Freescale Romania

Freescale Romania is providing a wide variety of opportunities for students that have the passion for technology and the desire to take part in our adventure for making the world a smarter place

22nd of October 2009 Open Day — Learn. Meet. Compete.

One day inside Freescale is an opportunity for students from technical universities across the country to discover the success story of our engineers, to view Freescale technology demos, participate in work-shops for technical and soft skills, visit Freescale Romania site and laboratories and win a contest.

22nd October special guest speaker – Erich Styger with the technical course “Abstract: Low Power”

Erich Styger is technical Architect and Distinguished Member of Technical Staff at Freescale Semiconductor. Additionally he is professor at the University of Lucerne, lecturing advanced electrical engineering and computer/software science in the domain of embedded systems

  • Subject: "Going Green" is one of the mega trends today. This includes the desire to reduce power and energy consumption, including the one for our electronic devices. As engineers we have a great responsibility to make this happen. But in order to implement this, we need to understand the basics of energy and power consumption of electronic devices, especially of processors and microcontrollers. In this course we learn about the motivation for low power (and energy), the fundamentals behind this and different possibilities in electronic design to reduce power consumption.
  • Duration: Total 3 hours, including breaks
  • Level: Introduction/intermediate
  • Precondition: English language, basics of software/electrical engineering
  • Delivery: Lecture in English language, small group-work

Who can participate to this event?

This invitation is addressed to:

  • Students in the 3rd and 4th year of study at Computer Science, Automatics, Electronics and Cybernetics in technical universities across the country
  • Students in the 1st year and 2nd year of Master studies at Computer Science, Automatics and Electronics in technical universities across the country

Freescale in Universities

That is why Freescale collaborates with universities. After all, where else would you find talent and innovation? Freescale assists universities in growing students' knowledge and experience through many different initiatives.

Freescale Semiconductor Romania is proud of its strong collaboration with Electronics; Computer Science and Automation departments form Bucharest, Timisoara and Brasov technical universities

The Freescale Academic Labs from Timisoara and Bucharest are gifted with more than 25 Students Learning Kits that are focused on the most appropriate tools for educators and students to use in the lab. These building blocks of technology innovation range from small application modules with optional expansion project board, to larger all-in-one feature-packed evaluation boards. All Students Learning Kits include software development tools, cables and documentation to allow user to get-up-and-go right out of the box

More than 100 students participated to ZigBee, Power Quick and Compiler presentations delivered by Freescale employees at Polytechnic University of Bucharest. The technical presentations focused on demos and practical applications of the technology developed by our teams in Freescale Romania.

Through university contest we want to engage and to challenge the most talented and passionate students offering a simulation of a real work-environment where great talent, speed, innovation and collaboration are the pillars for success.

Freescale Fixed-Point Contest sponsored by Freescale Romania was a programming contest in ANSI C Fixed-Point. The winner was rewarded with a DELL Inspiron 6400 - 6 LAPTOP

Stay tuned for our next challenge
