IEEE & Freescale Smart Car Competition Guidelines

  • I. Platform and Content of the Racing Event
    • 1. The organizing committee of the event will be responsible for purchasing the car model suite required for racing, recommending and customizing Freescale microcontroller development board and online debug tools, providing training material and distributing free Code Warrior development software.
    • 2. With regards to the car model platform, each racing team should produce an intelligent racing car that can recognize the track automatically and hence be capable of racing on the specifically designed racing track.
    • 3. Placement/ranking of each racing team in the competition will be determined based on scores for the shortest time taken (which is calculated based on best of two laps), completion of the racing and quality of technical report.
  • II. Team Members, Registration Method and Training
    • 1. Team Members

Any full-time postgraduate or undergraduate student with formal status at the time of the contest can apply to participate in the racing event. Each racing team should be composed of 2 students (maximum of only 1 postgraduate student) and 1 university/college advisor. Each student can only participate in one team, but the advisor may choose to counsel more than one team. Each team must have at least 1 IEEE member (student or advisor). IEEE Student Branch Counselors are not allowed to be the team advisor.
