Solid State Lighting (Ultra-High Brightness LEDs)

Electric light sources have undergone dramatic changes in the past decade with great improvements and innovations especially in the field of solid state lighting. The days of the conventional bulbs and tubes as we know it is likely to numbered with the arrival of ultra-high brightness LEDs (Light Emitting Diodes).

These ultra-high brightness LEDs are rapidly gaining popularity and finding their way into a myriad of applications – outdoor signage, architectural, accent and landscape lighting, traffic signaling, LCD backlighting, medical diagnostics instruments, medical and dental applications, marine navigational instruments, airfield and aircraft interior lighting, safety beacons, automotive – interior and exterior, portable market – flashlights, bicycle lights, lanterns, task lights, decorative and entertainment lighting, increasingly considered even in general lighting and the list goes on.

What is it that makes ultra-high brightness LEDs so popular?  Below are few of the several reasons why the ultra-high brightness LEDs are the hot favorites:

  • Highly Energy efficient
  • Very long operating life ( up to 100K hours of operation)
  • Ability to direct light for increased system efficiency
  • Robust
  • Vibration-proof
  • Vivid saturated colors which are fully dimmable
  • Instant-on
  • Output beam is cool and is safe to touch
  • Environmentally friendly product as it consumes less electricity
