Freescale Semiconductor Romania started its activity in June 2000 with only 5 employees, under the name of Motorola Software Development Center - part of the Motorola Semiconductors, from which separated as an independent company in April 2004. Freescale Romania is a Research and Development Center of Excellence in Software that currently employs more than 200 engineers.

The business groups represented in Romania are: Networking and Multimedia Group, Enablement Tools R&D Organization, Microcontroller Solution Group and Wireless Connectivity Operation.

Freescale Semiconductor Romania is one of the largest software centers in Freescale, generating concepts and patentable solutions for technologies that contribute to the development of Freescale's offering on the semiconductor market.

Freescale's priorities in research and development area in Romania include infrastructure applications for voice/modem/fax and video over IP, applications for telecommunication networking equipments, development of ZigBee stack, stack profiles and application profiles, AUTOSAR related development, integrated development tools (debuggers, compilers and Performance Analysis tools) for company's processors.

Working with new technologies means that there are tremendous innovation opportunities and our team responds with cutting edge solutions to the challenges faced by our customers. This is a fact proven by a significant number of patent disclosures issued by the Freescale Romania design center.
