AdvancedTCA®/AdvancedMC™: Delivering Standards for Rapid Development

Advanced Telecom Computing Architecture (AdvancedTCA® or ATCA®), a series of industry standard specifications, has been heralded as the next-generation, standards-based telecommunications computing platform. It was developed by a cross-section of more than 100 industry suppliers and telecom equipment manufacturers under the guidance of the PCI Industrial Computer Manufacturers Group (PICMG®) consortium. This standards-based platform has been developed to meet the unique needs of the telecommunications industry that can no longer be easily addressed by CompactPCI solutions or proprietary systems.

Applications are driven from a wide range of commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) chassis, cards and components to yield rapidly deployable, cost-effective system solutions which are both modular and flexible. The high-speed serial backplane interconnect provides the scalability and bandwidth to help meet the needs of systems today and tomorrow.
