The digital stethoscope is a step forward from its counterparts, with the capability of filtering and amplifying the signal. Improvement of listening to cardiac sounds helps the physician make a more accurate diagnosis. It connects to a LCD display to chart the results and have a graphic interface.

Freescale offers 8-bit and 32-bit ultra-low-power MCUs with the ability to drive an LCD display, ideal for the portability of digital stethoscopes and for more challenging applications such as fetal heart rate monitors.
