Brushless DC (BLDC) motors are used in applications such as fans, pumps, HVAC blowers and compressors, computer disk drives and peripherals, appliances, robotics, servo systems, traction control, sewing machines, and treadmills. A BLDC motor is a rotating electric machine where the stator is a classic three-phase stator like that of an induction motor and the rotor has permanent magnets. Motor torque and speed are most efficiently controlled by a microcontroller (MCU) or digital signal controller (DSC). Freescale supports both Hall sensor (commutated) and sensorless control functions.
