Freescale Semiconductor is engaged with universities in all regions of the world, providing a wide variety of opportunities to students and faculty members. For example, we offer hardware/software development kits for use in classes; we engage in research collaborations; and we offer intern and full-time employment opportunities to students. Our involvement with universities is an extremely important ingredient to Freescale’s long-term global strategy in that it allows us to teach and learn from the employees of tomorrow.
Education
Freescale creates versatile Student Learning Kits, which include
hardware, software and training, instruction materials and technical
support. These kits enable students and faculty members to learn
topics, conduct projects and gain experience using Freescale technologies. In
addition, we offer exposure to cutting edge technology and skills
that are demanded by the industry and will be invaluable when
entering the workforce.
University
Research
Freescale collaborates with research consortia and selected universities
around the world to develop future semiconductor technologies. In addition
to achieving breakthrough innovations, these collaborations provide
researchers and students with a rich experience and first-hand knowledge
of working with the semiconductor industry.
Recruitment
The relationships and knowledge Freescale gains through university
collaborations allow us to identify key students and educators and
offer them internships, co-ops and full-time employment opportunities
within Freescale across the globe. We also offer an engineering rotational
program to new graduate students. This one year program allows individuals
to rotate between various business groups, during which they gain a
diverse portfolio of experience that helps identify specific areas
of interest. Numerous members of Freescale's Leadership Team are former
participants of the Engineering Rotation program.
