As WiMAX deployments between the 2.3 GHz and 3.8 GHz range gain momentum, new challenges arise for the RF amplifier in base stations. At these higher frequencies, the new modulation scheme creates stringent linearity requirements for the power amplifier, which affects RF device specifications.

To address these challenges, Freescale Semiconductor developed a family of RF Integrated Circuits (RFICs) optimized specifically for WiMAX RF amplifiers. Utilizing Freescale's industry leading seventh-generation high-voltage (HV7) RF Laterally Diffused Metal Oxide Semiconductor (LDMOS) technology, these RFICs exhibit excellent performance in terms of linearity and efficiency, and are designed in Freescale's innovative over-molded plastic packaging.
