Single Family of Low-g Devices Delivers Five Sensing Functions
Freescale Semiconductor, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Motorola, Inc., has developed an acceleration sensor series specifically for the consumer market. Freescale's innovative MMA62xxQ micro-electromechanical systems-based sensors are designed for end products or embedded systems that need to measure small forces resulting from tilt, motion, positioning, shock or vibration.
The MMA62xxQ low-gravity (low-g) sensors range from 1.5g to 10g and detect movement in two directions (X and Y axes). Size is increasingly important in product design for applications ranging from cell phones and anything handheld to hard disk drives. By using a single sensor that integrates two axes, designers can reduce component countsaving valuable space, increasing heat dissipation and reducing cost. |
