Challenge XFreescale is a gold sponsor of Challenge X: Crossover to Sustainable Mobility, a three-year engineering competition that challenges student teams from 17 North American universities to explore vehicle solutions that will minimize energy consumption and reduce emissions. General Motors and the U.S. Department of Energy are headline sponsors for the competition.

On Jan. 5-8, 2005, in Austin, Texas, Freescale and National Instruments hosted training for approximately 75 student representatives from the Challenge X teams. This was the first technical training scheduled as part of the three-year program, which kicked off at the beginning of the 2004-2005 school year.

Energy, Environment & Transportation Discussion Forum

An Energy, Environment and Transportation Discussion Forum was held as part of the overall training event. The goal of the forum was to stimulate conversation from a wide range of viewpoints on issues related to energy dependency and vehicle emissions. Panelists hailed from various fields, including local government, education, environmental and industry organizations. Attendees included students and faculty from the 17 Challenge X universities, along with Austin-area community leaders, policymakers, citizens and students.
